Jazz artist, songwriter and music producer, Bachot Muna returns with his latest single ‘Ndutu O Mulema,’ an upbeat and charismatic track that reflects Bachot Muna’s spirited and bright personality. ‘Ndutu O Mulema’ follows in the footsteps of his last release ‘Mbana Wema,’ writing from the heart and soul. Influenced by the people surrounding him, Bachot Muna found his latest inspiration through the pain of a family struggle. “I wrote this song due to the sadness I feel from the behaviour of one member of my family. This person is causing a lot of trouble to herself and to all the family, and even as the family stands with her to help her overcome the behaviour that is harming her, she is unable to see the efforts the family is doing for her.” ‘Ndutu O Mulema’ translates to ‘pain in my heart’ and the sentiment of this is felt in the pain of his family’s concern. Despite the sorrow of the lyrical content, ‘Ndutu O Mulema’ channels the sadness of the song into positive instrumentation, turning the darkness into light with upbeat rhythms and feel-good melodies. An uplifting sensation kicks off the song with elevating piano and rhythmic percussion that plays around with salsa rhythms encouraging listeners to dance. The melodic vocals of Bachot Muna are a welcomed delight, accentuated by the bouncing accents of brass instrumentation and choral backing vocals. The optimistic soundscape of ‘Ndutu O Mulema’ feels like the perfect cure for a time of pain and frustration, becoming a part of the healing process. This groovy and irresistible track can shake off the blues for any listener. For Bachot Muna music has run through his veins since childhood. He began teaching himself piano, with no instrument to practice on, other than drawing a keyboard on a paper and memorising melodies, before collaborating with some friends to create a band called Man-walk. Pursuing a career in music even further, he developed his craft as a sound engineer and producer where he used his skills for his fourth album ‘Africa Sa’. 2022 will include a string of single releases focusing on an Acid Jazz project. At the core of Bachot Muna’s songwriting is the ability to connect listeners with his soul, creating songs from the heart and lifting spirits in the process.
