Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Catherine Obanda creatively knows as Cwezy grew up in a diverse musical realm. The name "Cwezy" was a high-school nickname derived from the word "crazy". This was due to her adventurous spirit and constant en-devours to pursue some rather insane ideas.

Although Cwezy is labeled as a hip-hop sometimes pop artist, she is fluid with her art. The gritty influence of Rock, African sounds, Pop, Hip-hop, and soulful atmospheres of R&B have created a genius musical wave for the artist; Hence her slogan “I am Infinite” which means she is limitless to what they are able to achieve. This can be easily felt through her songwriting skills and deft arrangements in her production.

Although she may seem intimidating at first glance, Cwezy prides herself as a geek who just enjoys good vibes and adventure. One that is also collectively known for her humble persona, and passionate dedication and commitment to music. As a storyteller, she revealed during an interview with Voyage ATL that poetry writing made her storytelling process in songwriting easier. This is an immense quality no matter what genre.

When not releasing personal projects, Cwezy is either busy making and writing music for other artists, handling charity projects, adventuring, or her entrepreneurial and other work-life.
